MY STORY

I took my first ceramics class the year after I completed graduate school to find respite from a soul-crushing job search and anxiety for the future. I was not wildly talented, turning out enormous bowls with ease. Instead, I spent the entire first session trying to center clay, to symmetrically distribute it as it spins.

I was, nonetheless, hooked.

The united physical and mental focus required, the welcome acceptance of failure as a learning opportunity, and the sheer alchemy of the process were captivating.

As my skills and aesthetic sense developed, the dream of like-minded souls buying my work also grew, slowly. The final catalyst in the creation of Rue Dimanche was the birth of my daughter. It was a seismic shift in my life, much like the end of my university days, and it prompted a blaze of creative energy in search of an outlet.

Thus, Rue Dimanche came into being - vibrant and heartfelt ceramic wares, produced in small batches by one set of hands.

The years since I started Rue Dimanche have been filled with joy, learning, and growth. I have participated in truly phenomenal art fairs, started my own website and online store, and set up a home studio with a shiny new wheel.

Welcome!

Whether you’re a long-time customer or are new to Rue Dimanche, thank you for joining me here on my journey. Please make yourself at home.
